EDS barriers are available in boom arm lengths from 1 metre right up to a full 12 metre road width. Doubles can be installed to accommodate wider roads. High speed barriers and other specials are available.
In the event of a power failure, the barrier can still be released by hand using the manual key override system.
A built in spring mechanism provides a precise counter balance for the barrier boom. The springs are factory set to correspond with the boom length prior to installation and can be easily reset in situ during assembly, for example if the barrier boom is shortened or if signs are attached to the boom. The springs give the barrier short opening and closing times without the barrier boom bouncing in the end positions.

Automatic Barriers with State of the Art Control Systems
Our barriers provide a state of the art control system with safety built in. EDS barrier systems incorporate inductive loops for safety and barrier operation.
Ground inductive loops are located within the road surface and are connected to the control system’s safety circuits, preventing the barrier arm from lowering when a vehicle is present. Should a vehicle pass under the barrier arm when the barrier is in the closing cycle, the arm will stop and return to the fully open position.
Once the vehicle has passed, the arm lowers into the closed position. Ground loops can also be used to immediately close the barrier to prevent it from being open for too long and allowing others to tailgate in or out of the secure area.
A state of the art control system monitors for precise location and has numerous advanced safety features built-in. The control system ensures the barrier operates at optimum levels and rises and falls with smooth operation.
Traffic Barriers can be Integrated Into Other Systems
Automatic Number Plate Recognition system, where a vehicle’s registration plate is taken and checked against a database. Once verified the barrier arm raises to allow access.
Where a tag is attached to specific vehicles, allowing access to only authorised vehicle only.
Any number of hand held radio remote controls can be linked to the system.
Proximity card, photo ID, biometric iris or fingerprint reading technologies can be incorporated into the system.
Standard issue tokens or high security tokens can be incorporated into the system.
An emergency back up lowering facility is operational during any power failure and is fitted as standard, ensuring that the barrier can be raised in the event of a power failure. Alternatively a UPS power system can be installed to keep the unit operational.
Automatic Rising Boom Arm Traffic Barrier – EDSUKBA9
The EDSUKBA9 range of barriers is ideal for traffic control in areas with particularly demanding use. The beam length ranges from 4 to 7 metres and bottom skirts can be fitted. A top and bottom skirt arrangement is available for beams up to 5 metres in length.
The EDSUKBA9 control board has surface mount technology with a 2 digit display and 3 programming buttons. This allows simple setting of the operational parameters and enables the selection of a wide range of logic functions including a customised logic. A standard setting allows for a pair of barriers to work simultaneously.
Our barriers provide perfectly calibrated stopping thanks to the adjustable electronic brake that slows down closing and opening movement. The control board activates a cooling fan when necessary, allowing the barrier to be operated continuously.
Automatic Traffic Barriers With Top & Bottom Skirts – EDSUKBA10
The EDSUKBA10 range of Heavy Duty Road Traffic barriers is ideal for traffic control in areas with particularly demanding use.
The beam length ranges from 2 to 9 metres, which can accommodate both top and bottom skirts.
A top and bottom skirt arrangement is available for beams up to 9 metres in length.
The EDSUKBA10 control board has surface mount technology with a 2 digit display and 3 programming buttons. This allows simple setting of the operational parameters and enables the selection of a wide range of logic functions including a customised logic. A standard setting allows for a pair of barriers to work simultaneously.

Roadside Pedestal Intercom Reader Posts
A wide range of standard road side pedestal posts are available to suit any application.
Pedestals are used for mounting intercom units, access control system readers, token units, keypads etc. We can provide single height pedestals for cars and vans and dual height pedestals for cars, vans and lorries, when the lorry driver is higher up in the vehicle. This allows access from any vehicle window.
The pedestal post can be installed within a central island, which could also be used for the barrier unit.
Automatic Traffic Barrier Systems Accessories
A large range of accessories is available, including: barrier boom arm tip end rests, folding top and bottom skirts, boom end electronic locking facilities, boom arm lighting, signage and traffic light signalling.
Traffic light signalling is incorporated into the system to show red or green lights to the driver.
